Mitchell Fox September 20th 2016 The Streetsville Stingers had already started the season with a bang with a win over the Brampton Bears, back to back ties with York Mills and Duffield and a semi-final win over the Caledon Hawks. They were pumped and ready to finish off the early bird tournament with a win over their rivals, the Duffield Devils. This game was a rematch of the final of last years tournament where the Stingers won in the ninth round of a shootout. This year, both teams were ready to fight for the trophy that they feel they deserve. Danny S., Henry, Carl, Tommy and Shane started the game. They were not quite ready for the speed that Duffield would use early in this game. Duffield got a bunch of good chances right away but Brendan was not ready to let one by him. He made a nice glove save and some big kick saves before the Stingers went to their first penalty kill. Trent tried to use aggressiveness to get a puck but was given a penalty. The Stingers knew what was coming and shut down the strong forecheck of Duffield’s powerplay.
The Stingers were able to squeeze into the Semi-Finals after a 2-2 tie with York Mills. This meant that they were going to face the Caledon Hawks in a win or go home semi-final. Caledon is the team that beat the Stingers in their only exhibition game so far. The Stingers struggled in that game and lost 5-3. Evan Kerr was making his debut as well. Davis, Liam, Dylan, Jack and Evan hopped onto the ice to start the game. Davis moved his stick forward and won the faceoff cleanly. Caledon was able to steal the puck and take it straight to the Stingers end. It didn’t look good until Aiden got ahold of the puck. He took off and got passed multiple defenceman as he came in on a breakaway and put the puck passed the goalie.
Mitchell Fox September 18th 2016 The Stingers were back on the ice later that day. This second game would come against the team that the Stingers beat in the ninth round of the shootout in the finals last year, the Duffield Devils. They are also the host of the tournament and have are facing the Stingers for the fifth time in three years of this tournament. The Stingers also played against them in the regular season last year. No doubt that it will be a good game.
Mitchell Fox September 18th 2016 A new season is right around the corner for the Streetsville Stingers as they come into the Early Bird Tournament hosted by the Duffield Devils. The expectations are high as the team is coming off back to back great seasons where they finished first in their group. Of course, the coaches are not expecting the team to win every game but they are looking for improvement. There are four new players joining the team after the departure of Ethan "Jar Jar" Misa and the movement of #11 Mitchell Fox and #22 Conner Bradshaw to the taxi squad. There is Walker Moulton...a monster defence-man with a powerful shot, Cole Kubas... A power forward with a knack for scoring, former stinger coming back from Clarkson, Dylan Van Damme and a new second goalie, William Machado. William will be splitting 50-50 with returning goalie #31 Brendan Fox. The Stingers are looking to defend their spot on top of the podium at this tournament.
